2022 Design Build Remodel Industry Update

By Bryan Slowick | Sep 10, 2022

From the grocery store, to houses for sale, and gasoline to fill up the car, we are hearing every day about the shortage of supply in industries across the board. The supply shortage is now becoming a supply chain reality for most Americans in everyday life, but especially in the construction industry. Our team at BDS is prepared, and we have adjusted to account for these conditions for the foreseeable future. Some of these include extended lead times on cabinets, appliances, finish materials, flooring, tile, etc.

Don’t let the current supply chain reality disrupt your dreams for home renovations! Like we said, our team is prepared and ready to move forward with your home renovation projects to create your ideal space. As the industry evolves in this season, here are a few things to keep in mind as you not only plan your home design but the budget and timeline  for those projects as well.

Cost increases

Everything is more expensive when it comes to supplies and then there are also the increase in fuel charges that are contributing.

Interest Rates

The market will continue to see multiple rate increases this year by the Fed

We are still seeing the most popular layout styles to be open design, but we are seeing the return of separate spaces due to people often working from home daily or on occasion. We are also seeing requests for new outdoor spaces, 3 season rooms, and screened in porches.

The industry is booming, so we are finding slightly longer build times. There is also a shortage of workers so it is taking longer to get projects started.

Our BDS team is prepared, and ready to start planning out your home remodel

Don’t let the industry intimidate you, our BDS team has been doing this a long time, and we are ready to move forward creating beautiful home design for our families.  Call our team today to talk through your ideas and any concerns that may be on your mind. We are happy to work through those with you.
