About the Project
This Libertyville remodel involved a complete transformation of a dated first-floor layout, seamlessly connecting the kitchen and family room for modern living and entertaining. The original wall with built-in cabinets dividing the spaces was a non-load bearing wall, but it did house mechanicals that would need to be moved. We carefully concealed the mechanicals within two shallow pillars. This opened up the space, allowing for a natural flow between the kitchen and family room. The kitchen underwent a stunning upgrade, adding white perimeter cabinets contrasted by a wood-tone island, a leathered granite countertop, and a custom tile backsplash as a focal point. A large island creates plenty of prep space and seating, while a dry bar with display cabinets, a wine fridge, and integrated lighting adds elegance and functionality. The entire first-floor flooring was refinished and for continuity extended into the family room. Ceiling lighting, updated paint, and a new fan and natural light enhancements in the family room creates a warm, inviting atmosphere. The BDS team also incorporated thoughtful touches such as power and data integration above the fireplace, improved laundry room updates, and a new furniture layout for optimal flow and connection. The result is a bright, cohesive space perfect for hosting family and friends, with every detail tailored to the Libertyville homeowners’ needs and lifestyle.
